I was ready for the final show
I was the last to know and the first let go
Had me waiting in an empty room
Time frozen still with a sense of doom
Leftover chicken in a paper bag
I didn’t realize it was a game of tag

Tried to bargain with a face of stone
Got a cold rebuff in a monotone
In the corner, in a uniform
Stood a silent guy to maintain the norm
I knew the drill, having held the bit
